Position Title:                        Human Resources Assistant

Summary: Provides clerical, administrative, and general support services to the Human Resources Department. Assists with maintaining employee records, preparing documents, scheduling, data entry, and supporting HR processes while ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Onboarding & Recruitment: Process employment applications for licensed and classified/certified staff, help with conducting background checks/fingerprinting, and coordinate new hire orientation sessions.
  • Records Management: Create, maintain, and audit employee personnel files and demographic information in the Human Resources Information System (YOSS/CrossPoint) and physical filing system, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Administrative Support: Answer phones, greet visitors, and respond to inquiries from staff, applicants, and the public regarding HR policies, procedures, and job openings.
  • Compliance & Benefits Support: Assist with legal compliance processes, resignations, and retirements.  Update rosters when necessary.
  • Credential Monitoring: Assist with auditing teacher certifications and licenses to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Communication: Distribute memoranda and essential documents to staff regarding policies and procedures. 
  • Provide general administrative support such as preparing correspondence, forms, and reports, arranging meetings, composing regular correspondence, processing confidential reports and documents, filing electronic and hard copies, tracking deadlines, processing purchase orders and supply inventory for the department, and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: 2–3 years of relevant administrative or clerical experience, preferably in an educational or public sector environment.
  • Technology Proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google, and experience with YOSS applicant tracking systems/CrossPointe.
  • Confidentiality: Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding employee data.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organization: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
  • Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
  • Ability to be present at the physical worksite.
  • Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Must perform routine physical activities such as bending, lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.

Salary Range:

$32,696 - 48,854 based on years of experience.
