Position Title: Certified Tutor for Valdosta City Schools
Work Days: Monday-Thursday. Hours vary daily. $30 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY:
The School-Day Tutor provides academic support to students during the regular school day, working individually or in small groups to reinforce classroom instruction and promote student achievement. The tutor collaborates with teachers and school staff to implement targeted interventions, support skill development, and help students build confidence and positive learning habits. This role plays a key part in supporting learners across subject areas while maintaining a structured learning environment.
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

Valid Georgia Teacher Certificate Preferred

Bachelor’s Degree Required

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring to students during the school day in designated content areas
- Reinforce classroom instruction and aligned curriculum under the direction of the classroom teacher or instructional staff
- Assist students with skill development, practice, and comprehension to support academic growth
- Implement targeted interventions and instructional strategies as outlined by teachers or support plans
- Monitor student progress and communicate observations to teachers and school staff as appropriate
- Maintain a positive and structured learning environment that supports student engagement
- Encourage positive learning behaviors, independence, and confidence in students
- Follow school policies, schedules, and confidentiality requirements
- Support classroom routines and transitions as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Ability to work well with tutors, support staff, school leaders, and district office leaders.
2. Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.
3. Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
4. Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
5. Ability to be present at the physical worksite.
6. Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
7. Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
8. Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
