POSITION SUMMARY: 

The School Nutrition Assistant Manager is responsible for all aspects of food production and service in the assigned school, adhering to sanitation, food safety, and cost management guidelines. The role involves preparing and serving nutritious meals in a clean and welcoming environment, promoting the school nutrition program, and supporting the overall health and well-being of students.

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND WORK EXPERIENCE: 

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Team Leads must be able to comprehend recipes and food preparation instructions.  Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a food service related field is preferred.  The optimal candidate has knowledge of basic nutrition principles and food safety regulations. ServSafe Certification is preferred.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

  1. Oversee and assist in food preparation using standardized recipes and ensure portion control.
  2. Serve meals to students and staff, maintaining portion sizes and food quality and  presentation.
  3. Operate the cash register and handle transactions when necessary.
  4. Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines as set by federal, state, and local regulations.
  5. Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and workplace cleanliness.
  6. Ensure proper handling and storage of food to prevent contamination and foodborne illnesses.
  7. Clean and sanitize dishes, kitchen equipment, dining areas, and storage spaces.
  8. Participate in daily and periodic deep-cleaning tasks to maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
  9. Support activities and initiatives that promote the school nutrition program.
  10. Foster a positive dining experience for students and staff by maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.
  11. Assist in creating an inviting cafeteria environment that encourages students to participate in the school meal program.
  12. Work on the floor with other employees to ensure fully stocked lines and continual service to customers.
  13. Ensure all serving lines are fully stocked and organized. 
  14. Complete the Orientation for New Employees (ONE) course during the first year of employment, as mandated for all new hires.
  15. Participate in staff meetings, professional learning opportunities, and training sessions.
  16. Engage in ongoing education and professional development to stay informed about current nutrition trends and regulations.
  17. Follow federal and state laws, adhere to the Code of Ethics for Educators, and comply with all School Board policies.
  18. Maintain regular and prompt attendance.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or school administration.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Ability to work well with teachers, school administrative teams, and district office leaders.
  2. Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.
  3. Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
  4. Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
  5. Ability to be present at the physical worksite.
  6. Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
  7. Must be able to perform cleaning tasks including washing dishes and mopping floors.
  8. Must be able to work in varying temperatures, including hot kitchens and refrigerated areas.
  9. Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
  10. Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
