POSITION SUMMARY:

The Elementary School Principal provides visionary leadership to promote and sustain high academic achievement for all students and aligns school operations with the District’s strategic plan.  This role requires expertise in instructional leadership, adherence to educational policies, and effective management of financial and operational responsibilities.  The Principal fosters a strong, professional relationships with the community, central office, and stakeholders to support student success.

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate will hold a Master's degree in Educational Leadership, with a Specialist degree or higher preferred. The candidate must hold GaPSC Teacher and Leadership certifications or be eligible for certification, along with a minimum of five years of successful teaching and leadership experience.  Assistant Principal experience is preferred.  

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

  1. Oversee all PK-5 school operations, including staff management, facilities, and extracurricular programs.
  2. Provide instructional leadership, ensuring a positive learning environment and adherence to curriculum standards.
  3. Foster high morale and professional growth through fair and supportive administration of policies and programs.
  4. Supervise and evaluate the performance of employees.
  5. Coordinate in-service training, develop structures for high quality professional learning communities, and support effective classroom instruction.
  6. Maintain school discipline and monitor student behavior in classrooms, hallways, lunchrooms, and playgrounds.
  7. Engage with parents, volunteers, school councils, and community organizations to build strong partnerships.
  8. Develop and manage the school budget, prioritizing educational resources and collaborating with central office staff.
  9. Implement and communicate district, state, and federal policies while ensuring compliance.
  10. Assign teachers and students effectively to maximize instructional outcomes.
  11. Prepare and maintain a comprehensive school safety plan.
  12. Recommend staff appointments and manage employee performance issues, including pre-termination hearings.
  13. Coordinate student teacher placements and encourage staff participation in professional organizations.
  14. Actively recruit and hire high-quality employees to meet staffing needs and support school goals.
  15. Demonstrates effective short and long range planning in coordination with established goals and objectives.
  16. Monitors school-wide goal setting, implementation, and evaluation.
  17. Ensure the care and maintenance of school buildings, grounds, and equipment.
  18. Serve as a liaison between the school and district leadership, reporting major issues and participating in district-wide initiatives.
  19. Encourage open communication among staff, students, and stakeholders to foster collaboration and continuous improvement.
  20. Abides by all Code of Ethics for Educators and Board Policies.
  21. Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.

  2. Exceptional attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy and thoroughness in task completion.

  5. Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop a team of educators and support staff to achieve high levels of performance.
  6. Expertise in curriculum development, assessment design, instructional strategies, and the integration of educational technology to enhance learning outcomes.

 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Elementary Principal supervises all school personnel, including teachers, support staff, and extracurricular program leaders, to ensure effective operations and high-quality instruction.  They provide guidance, conduct performance evaluations, and foster professional growth to maintain a positive and productive school environment.

  4. Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
  5. Ability to be present at the physical worksite.
  6. Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
  7. Must be able to perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 40 pounds.
  8. Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
