POSITION SUMMARY:

To support the implementation of District and School Improvement initiatives with parents, teachers, and administrators to enhance and maximize student achievement in the areas of ELA and Social Studies through targeted coaching and job-embedded professional development for teachers and staff.

 

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

Master’s Degree and five years of successful teaching experience in the areas of ELA, Reading and/or Social Studies.  Valid Georgia teaching certificate or be eligible for Georgia certification.  The preferred candidate will hold a Reading Endorsement and have three years of recent successful teaching experience in the ELA classroom and a deep understanding of literacy development, writing, and research aligned to the science of reading.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Fosters a positive school culture where teacher and student growth are continuously promoted. Facilitates on-going collaboration with teachers to effectively adjust curriculum and instruction to ensure equity and excellence of student learning. Assists teachers in the development and implementation of instructional plans (such as content, methods, and materials) for students with varying academic needs. Coaches classroom teachers on effective instructional strategies through modeling, co-teaching, and reflective feedback. Assists with a systematic process in which data and research are used extensively in making decisions about teaching and learning. Guides teachers in analyzing student work to inform instructional decisions. Supports teachers in the process of designing a variety of assessments (formative and summative) based on the type of learning experiences to be assessed. Designs and implements job-embedded professional learning with a focus on collaboration and continuous improvement to address district, school, and teacher needs. Collaborates with professional learning communities to strategically implement and sustain instructional best practices. Assists in the selection of instructional and professional materials through collaboration with other educators. Demonstrates effective communication, interpersonal skills and professional behavior when working with parents, teachers, administrators, instructional coordinators, and other professionals. Assists with the orientation of induction phase teachers through targeted coaching in order to retain highly qualified effective teachers. Participates in district coaching collaborative, professional conferences, workshops, professional development, and/or in-service programs that relate to Title I/Title IIA allowable programs. Creates and implements an annual coaching plan aligned to district and school goals and initiatives that positively impacts student achievement. Attends staff meetings, professional learning, training sessions, and serves on staff committees as required.  Abides by all Code of Ethics for Educators and Board policies. Maintains a pattern of prompt and regular attendance. Other duties may be assigned that are allowable under the Title I/Title IIA programs.
