Position Summary:  The Early Intervention Program (EIP)/Remedial Enrichment Program  (REP) Teacher provides specialized reading and/or math instruction to students who struggle with literacy and numeracy skills. This role requires training in evidence-based methodologies, such as the Science of Reading, to address diverse learning needs and close achievement gaps. The teacher will implement intensive, structured, and systematic instruction to accelerate students' reading and numeracy progress and prevent long-term academic struggles.

 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Teaching Certificate
  • Three or more years of excellent classroom teaching experience
  • Knowledge of evidence-based reading and numeracy instruction methodologies.
  • Ability to assess student reading  and numeracy abilities and monitor progress.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and implement multisensory instructional approaches.
  • Complete required training in Science of Reading training (if teaching Reading) and/or Read180 training. If Tift is providing the training, teachers will need to sign a contract committing to the two-year training and serving in the EIP/REP role in Tift for a minimum of two years after completion of the training.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • In depth understanding of curriculum standard and effective instructional strategies across various subjects
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods, learning theories, and educational research
  • Familiarity with formative and summative assessments, as well as the ability to analyze student data to inform instruction.
  • Understanding of how to tailor teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Knowledge of educational technology tools and how to effectively integrate them into teaching and learning.
  • Knowledge of and ability to provide effective instruction via multiple instructional modelings including push-in (i.e., Station teaching or reciprocal teaching) and via pull-out models.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based reading and numeracy instruction methodologies.
  • Completion of district-approved science of reading training, such as LETRS, Orton-Gillingham or a similar district-approved training.

Essential Duties

  • Partner with teachers to implement instructional strategies directly in the classroom.
  • Model best practices and co-teach lessons to demonstrate new instructional techniques and support classroom management.
  • Collaborate with educators to develop and adapt curriculum materials that meet diverse student needs.
  • Provide specialized reading and numeracy instruction using evidence-based strategies (e.g., Science of Reading, phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension) through the utilization of district provided instructional resources (e.g., Read180, HMH Into Reading, Walpole and McKenna interventions, etc.).
  • Assess students' reading and numeracy abilities and monitor progress effectively.
  • Differentiate instruction and use multisensory approaches to meet diverse learning needs, including those with characteristics of dyslexia and language processing difficulties.
  • Provide intensive, structured, and systematic instruction to bridge achievement gaps.
  • Identify and address reading and numeracy challenges early to reduce the risk of long-term learning difficulties.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions.
  • Collaborate with other educators and staff to develop instructional activities designed to support student learning.
  • Ability to work 8 hours a day for 190 days, as assigned by the building principal.  Note, the instructional day and work year calendar may differ from the typical teacher work day and/or calendar to facilitate the school’s ability to provide at-risk students with instruction beyond the school day and/or beyond the school year.

Accountability

  • The EIP/REP teacher will be held accountable for improving student performance as indicated by Georgia Milestone Proficient & Distinguished performance, Core Resource provided measures (e.g.,Read180), and Universal Screening data.
  • REP and EIP teachers are evaluated via the TKES or GALeads process.
