Postion Summary: The Elementary Interventionist is responsible for providing targeted support to students through behavior interventions, tiered academic interventions (Tier 2 and Tier 3), and/or Early Intervention Program (EIP) supports. This role focuses on helping students who require additional assistance to achieve success in their academic, social, and emotional development. Additionally, the interventionist plays a key role in implementing and monitoring student safety plans as needed.

Each school principal will develop a utilization plan that outlines specific duties and data-monitoring processes for the interventionist, ensuring effectiveness and accountability in supporting school and student needs.

Minimum Requirements

  • Teaching Certificate
  • Three or more years of excellent classroom teaching experience

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the school’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework and ensure interventions align with school-wide initiatives.
  • Implement behavior interventions to improve student engagement and success.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Assist in the development and implementation of student safety plans, ensuring compliance with school and district policies.
  • Provide support for students in crisis or those requiring additional supervision for safety-related concerns.
  • Work with school counselors, administrators, and families to ensure a coordinated approach to student safety and well-being.
  • Provide direct intervention support to students identified as needing Tier 2 and Tier 3 academic interventions.
  • Partner with school leadership, teachers, counselors, and support staff to develop and implement intervention plans.
  • Collect and analyze data to monitor student progress and adjust intervention strategies as needed.
  • Assist in the implementation of research-based strategies to support student learning and progress.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, school counselors and social workers to provide targeted small-group or one-on-one instructional support.
  • Participate in professional learning and training related to intervention strategies, behavioral supports, and student safety.
  • Plan and redeliver embedded professional learning aligned with district initiatives.
  • Model research-based instructional strategies and provide support through classroom observations, feedback, and coaching.
  • Provide academic interventions to students identified for EIP services, ensuring alignment with district and state guidelines.
  • Collaborate with teachers to differentiate instruction and provide additional learning opportunities.
  • Collect and analyze data to track student progress and inform instructional adjustments.

Accountability

  • Collect, analyze, and maintain student progress data related to Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions, behavior supports, and EIP services.
  • Utilize assessment tools, classroom performance data, and teacher input to track student growth.
  • Participate in MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) meetings to review student data and adjust intervention strategies accordingly.
  • Provide regular reports on intervention effectiveness to the school leadership team.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions with fidelity as outlined in school and district protocols.
  • Maintain accurate intervention logs, including details of student participation, instructional strategies used, and progress notes.
  • Adhere to district and state guidelines for EIP and behavioral intervention support.
  • Work closely with teachers to ensure that interventions align with classroom instruction.
  • Participate in weekly or biweekly check-ins with the principal to review goals, student progress, and areas of improvement.
  • Engage in regular communication with families, providing updates on student progress and strategies for home support.
  • Ensure all assigned student safety plans are implemented and followed consistently.
  • Document interventions and report any safety concerns promptly to administrators and appropriate personnel.
  • Each principal will develop a utilization plan that clearly outlines how the interventionist will be used in their school.
  • The plan must include specific goals, intervention schedules, and a system for monitoring effectiveness.
  • Interventionists will be evaluated on their ability to implement the plan successfully and adjust interventions based on student needs.
