MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Licenses:  

• Georgia State Board of Nursing License:  RN  or LPN 

Knowledge & Skills:  

• Thorough knowledge of nursing procedures, student growth and development, first aid, and CPR certified.  
• Practical oral and written communication skills. 
• Demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality. 
• Ability to work independently and adapt to different school settings. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide direct nursing care to students and staff as needed.
• Serves as the resource person to school employees and classroom teachers in the area of health, medicine, preventive hygiene, drug awareness, and wellness.
• Reports all cases of communicable diseases as required.
• Administer medications and treatments according to physicians' orders and district policy.
• Assess and manage student illnesses and injuries; provide first aid emergency care.
• Respond promptly to medical emergencies and activate EMS when necessary.
• Monitor and support students with chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, seizures, allergies).
• Maintain accurate and confidential student health records.
• Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns when appropriate.
• Ensure compliance with immunization requirements and health screenings as assigned.
• Collaborate with school staff to promote a safe and healthy school environment.
• Follow established school district procedures and state nursing regulations.
