SALARY SCHEDULE: SCCS Administrative Salary Schedule Grade 5 Salary range $85,000 - $153,000

OVERALL PURPOSE:
The director of technology services provides responsive, collaborative leadership and management of all technology systems and infrastructure to support the school district's mission and vision. This work includes planning, developing, implementing, and maintaining all applications, infrastructure, security, networks, technology supports, and training to promote the effective use of technology by students, staff, and administration.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- A degree in Technology, Computer Information Systems, or Computer Science is preferred.
- A minimum of five (5) years of K-12 technical support or administrative/leadership experience is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with staff, students, and parents
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Provides vision and leadership in technology systems administration, design, installation, security, and management of specialized hardware, software, equipment, and telecommunication infrastructure for the school system
- Works closely with the executive team and stakeholders to develop a shared vision with long-term, big-picture perspectives on system goals to plan for meaningful and practical uses of technology
- Guides the implementation and use of technology by analyzing user needs, evaluating solution options, making recommendations, developing in-house systems and services, and establishing support resources for systems and services
- Plans and manages the configuration and timely maintenance of the entire network infrastructure, including equipment, servers, PCs, and operating systems
- Manages the budget and serves as a strong business leader who guides purchasing decisions, determines the return on investment for all technology implementations, and fosters good relationships with vendors and other key groups
- Assists with the creation, implementation, and enforcement of policies and educational programs relating to the social, legal, and ethical issues related to technology use throughout the system
- Leads the installation, repair, and maintenance of computer equipment, technology systems, and networks
- Leads the installation, repair, and maintenance of telecommunications systems, including video, data, and internet
- Oversees the purchasing and distribution of all technology-related hardware, software, telecommunications, audio-visual materials, and other equipment and software
- Develops and maintains recovery plans to ensure technology systems and operations continue in the event of an emergency
- Maintains an up-to-date inventory of all computer hardware and software used in the school system
- Coordinates personnel selection and hiring (e.g., certificated staff, support staff) to recommend qualified candidates to the Board of Education
- Supervises, leads, evaluates, and prioritizes the work of the technical staff.
- Creates a culture of excellence, teamwork, and collaboration among staff
- Assists with the interview process and selection of candidates seeking employment in systems technology
- Collaborates with network engineers and other staff to troubleshoot systems applications as needed
- Plans for and conducts professional learning for systems technology staff, administrators, and other end users
- Plans for and provides technical troubleshooting to school representatives as needed Plans and provides support for system-wide technology implementations
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Knowledge in areas of design, installation, implementation techniques, and administration of K-12 technology and telecommunications
- Knowledge of networks and computer systems administration
- Understanding of critical methods and their relation to technology integration
- Knowledge of quality control processes associated with K-12 technology systems and network
- Ability to establish and maintain moderately complex records and files and to prepare reports from such data
- Ability to assess program needs and develop long-range goals and annual objectives
- Ability to develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate program goals and initiatives
- Ability to manage financial, material, and human resources effectively.
- Ability to plan, direct, and coordinate the work of technical and professional staff.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in applying standards to a variety of work situations

- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: lifting (50 pounds), carrying, pushing, and pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 50% sitting, 30% walking, and 20% standing.
EVALUATION:
The Director of Operations will evaluate this position's performance and responsibilities at least annually.
