JOB DESCRIPTION: Administrative Assistant for Transportation
CONTRACT TERMS: 200-day calendar, Full-time position
REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor
SCCS DISTRICT CLASSIFIED SALARY SCHEDULE: Grade 10
FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT: Non-exempt
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Transportation Administrative Assistant supports the Transportation Supervisor in managing daily transportation operations across the school district. This includes overseeing scheduling, compliance, communication, and clerical duties.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma / Equivalent. Some college preferred.
- Minimum three (3) years in a transportation-related field.
- Valid Georgia Commercial Driver’s License.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES:
- Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills; maintains a professional demeanor and is a positive role model for staff.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
- Establishes and monitors work assignments and work schedules.
- Schedules vehicle inspections and maintenance.
- Develops and implements an effective procedure for maintaining maintenance records.
- Provides clerical support to the Transportation Supervisor, including answering phone calls and responding to emails.
- Retrieve and access bus camera DVR for viewing and send to appropriate school Principal.
- Query all newly hired drivers for FMSCA.
- Assists the Transportation Director in providing safe, effective, and efficient transportation services to all eligible students.
- Assists in scheduling all trips (field and athletic).
- Data entry and organizing data for filing.
- Assists with maintaining and updating the routing program daily.
- Performs other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be appropriate and acceptable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: sitting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity.
Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing.
