THIS IS A PART-TIME POSITION

Overall Purpose 

To provide quality instruction and implement the curriculum for assigned students. Maintains a safe and secure classroom environment that is conducive to learning. Develops lesson plans and delivers group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines.

   Essential Functions

• Uses a variety of instructional strategies at an appropriate instructional level for teaching students from diverse backgrounds with different learning styles and special needs.
• Maintains appropriate student behavior in and out of the classroom by monitoring behavior and intervening when necessary.
• Communicates high learning expectations for all students; assesses, monitors, and encourages student progress.
• Uses ongoing assessments to monitor student progress; interprets and uses data (including but not limited to standardized and other test results) for instructional planning and program evaluation.
• Follows professional practices consistent with school and system policies in working with students, students’ records, parents, and colleagues.
• Provides accurate and timely information to parents and students about the academic and behavioral performance of students' expectations; develops methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in school and the home environment by holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications.
• Maintains lesson plans as required by school policy.
• Develops, implements, and completes all prescribed activities outlined in the Professional Development Plan annually in accordance with state and system requirements.
• Maintains accurate, complete, and appropriate records and files reports promptly.
• Acts professionally and ethically and adheres to professional standards at all times.
• Demonstrates accurate and up-to-date content knowledge; keeps abreast of developments in instructional methodology, learning theory, curriculum trends, and content; participates in various meetings (Professional Learning Communities, etc.).
• Maintains confidentiality of students and other professional information.
• Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. 

Requirements

Valid Georgia professional certification in the assigned teaching field. 

Physical Requirements

Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity.

Generally, the job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing.

Education/Training

Maintains all licenses and certifications.
