Grade Level: High Schoool (8-12)
1. Must be honorably discharged from the Army in the grades of E6 through E9
2. Must have not been retired over 5 years
3. Have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED
4. Must earn an Associate’s degree within 5 years of becoming an JROTC instructor

6. JROTC instructors in Georgia are required to secure a Georgia teaching “Permit” through the Professional Standards Commission
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Instructs cadets in the JROTC curriculum during the year. 2. Develops short and long range plan for achieving curriculum goals, gathers appropriate materials, establishes clear objectives for lessons, and formulates appropriate lesson plans. 3. Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and the personal growth of students. 4. Evaluates student progress and counsels cadets on their performance within the JROTC program. 5. Motivates and encourages students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a foundation for becoming a responsible citizen. 6. Organizes, supervises and participates in extracurricular activities for JROTC cadets to include color guard, drill teams, school and JROTC Rifle Teams and other special activities. 7. Maintains JROTC student records as required by military regulations and local policies. 8. Complies with military and school district safety guidelines when instructing, supervising, monitoring and accompanying cadets. 9. Maintains supply accountability in strict compliance with military security regulations. 10. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media. 11. Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with the "Terms of Establishment". SECURITY CLEARANCE: The Candler County School System requires a criminal background check and fingerprinting on all new employees, including all substitutes and other designated employees. SALARY: In Accordance with Appropriate Guidelines QUALIFICATIONS: Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) requirements for Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (JROTC) professionals- Initial permits in the field of JROTC may be issued to individuals meeting all of the following requirements: 1. Hold a minimum of a high school diploma or GED; 2. Hold official military retirement orders, or a DD Form 214 Member Copy #4, with Block #24 reflecting honorable retirement from a branch of military service (Army).
