QUALIFICATIONS

1. High School Diploma (or equivalent)
2. Valid Driver’s License and Proof of Insurance
3. Possess Good Interpersonal Skills
4. Exhibit Motivation and Self-Direction
5. Bilingual/Bicultural Skills Preferred
6. Experience in Education or Human Services Preferred

 
REPORTS TO: Principal and MEP Contact    
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Identifies and recruits eligible migrant students residing in the assigned geographical areas
2. Promotes an awareness of the unique educational needs of migrant students
3. Assists school personnel by:
   1. Interpreting, preparing, and disseminating migrant records and reports
   2. Interpreting the Migrant Education Program to migrant parents
   3. Locating health and social services for migrant students, as necessary
   4. Initiating and and/or assisting in the assessment of the migrant students’ educational, health, and support service needs
4. Provides academic and other assistance beyond that available in school to migrant students as needed
5. Assists families in meeting the needs of migrant students in the areas of audio logical, nutrition, immunization, and general health
6. Provides transportation as required to deliver needed services in the interest of school success
7. Monitors school attendance for problems involving migrant students (Suspensions, Withdrawals, etc.)
8. Refers migrant youth (16-21) to alternative educational opportunities, as appropriate
9. Involves migrant parents in the education of their children
10. Participates in appropriate workshops and inservice training
11. Performs other duties as assigned by the MEP Program Contact

 
NOTE:  I understand if I park my vehicle on school premises, it shall be subject to searches by law enforcement officials with drug sniffing, weapon sniffing canines without notice.  I also understand if illegal substances or weapons are discovered in my vehicle, in such a search, I will be subject to criminal and job related penalties including termination of my employment with Candler County Schools.
