REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Perform the duty of transporting students within the county during school hours, and before and after school hours and for school activities when requested to do so. 2. Assume responsibility for the safety and protection of all students on his/her bus. 3. Follow policies of the State Board of Education, State Laws, Lowndes County Board of Education Policies and rules and regulations established by the Board. 4. Obey all laws and regulations governing highway travel and transportation of school children. 5. Secure a physical examination by a medical doctor in keeping with State Board of Education requirements. 6. Perform the following tasks: 7. Maintain proper and up-to-date CDL license in compliance with state and federal law. 8. Supervise and assist in the loading and unloading of busses during regular route and at schools. 9. Ability to assist in evacuation of students from a bus in an emergency. 10. Assume responsibility for the behavior of all students on the bus. 11. Dive at a safe speed at all times, and at no time exceed the legal speed limit for school busses. 12. Work with shop personnel to keep the bus in good mechanical condition, with special attention to brakes, tires, windshield wipers, stop arms and lights. 13. Keep his/her bus in sanitary condition (clean bus daily). 14. Conduct daily inspection of mechanical components of the bus. 15. Perform other duties as assigned.
