QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Experience with accounting and payroll preferred 

2. Effective communication skills, oral and written  

3. Good interpersonal skills 

4. Associates Degree Preferred

The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above qualifications.

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent for Finance

WORK YEAR: 230 Days 

JOB GOAL: To maintain the operation of payroll and benefits effectively and efficiently.  

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Lanier County Board of Education

EVALUATION:   This position will be evaluated annually by the Assistant Superintendent for Finance.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

General Responsibilities 

  1. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
  2. Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in the use of internet, email, and other computer applications as applicable to job responsibilities.
  3. Demonstrates appropriate verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Complies with school, system, state, and federal regulations and policies, including the PSC Code of Ethics for Educators, as related to job requirements.
  5. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information and material; adheres to chain of command.
  6. Acts in a professional manner and maintains a professional attitude towards the public and colleagues.
  7. Maintains a professional appearance as appropriate for job responsibilities.
  8. Maintains and improves knowledge and skills to promote proficiency in the operations of an organized, modern, updated, and efficient school. 
  9. Participates in professional organizations and staff development activities and applies what is learned to the job.
  10. Monitors compliance with policies and laws concerning area of responsibility.
  11. Shows initiative and assumes responsibility for all aspects of job responsibilities and performs routine duties and tasks with little or no direct supervision.
  12. Participates with other system personnel in planning and decision-making meetings.
  13. Communicates vision and mission to school personnel as appropriate.
  14. Enhances the climate of the building and the morale of colleagues.

Essential Responsibilities

  1. Processes payrolls, making deductions for income taxes, retirements, annuities, dues, garnishments, and other related items.
  2. Prepares monthly and quarterly wage and tax reports.
  3. Prepares reports and checks for proper agencies covering all deductions. 
  4. Maintains records covering all deductions. 
  5. Prepares all tax forms relating to payroll matters. 
  6. Mails checks to employees off duty during summer months. 
  7. Verifies all amounts before and after checks are processed.
  8. Performs salary, employment, and experience verifications. 
  9. Maintains reports on available leave and sends copy to employees each month. 
  10. Completes year end leave processing and submits all paperwork to the retirement agency. 
  11. Aids employees in completing insurance forms. 
  12. Adjusts and updates all pertinent insurance information per changes (birth of a child, death, marriage, divorce, and other status changes).
  13. Performs insurance billings.
  14. Performs submission of employee and employer retirement contributions.
  15. Performs all changes for payroll purchases. 
  16. Aids employees in completing retirement forms. 
  17. Completes and submits WC-1 reports when accident reports are received. 
  18. Organizes and maintains new employee packets which contain all pertinent information on all employees. 
  19. Maintains computer database on all personnel. 
  20. Places new employees on appropriate insurance rosters. 
  21. Assists the Assistant Superintendent for Finance as needed. 

Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor and/or superintendent.
