Position: Director of Technology – 230 Days

Primary Responsibilities of Position:

• Coordinates with the technology committee to develop long-range technology plans and yearly updates to the technology plan. 
• Provides technological advice and consultative assistance to school principals and staff on implementation of the technology plan and integration of technology into the classroom. 
• Assists in the selection, installation and start-up of all educational technology systems and equipment, including preparation of specifications for invitations to bid. 
• Reviews and evaluates educational technology equipment and software prior to purchase and/or installation into school classrooms. Advises and makes recommendations on the purchase of software and technological equipment. 
• Coordinates the evaluation of the technology plan periodically, reports progress towards goal attainment. 
• Collaborates with the school technology persons and media specialists in the delivery of information and technology services to provide a concerted effort in implementing the instructional and technical requirements needed in the school. 
• Coordinates the operation and application for instructional software, computers, local area networks for voice, video and data, Internet connectivity, telecommunications, distance learning programming and multimedia-based applications.
• Coordinates courses, workshops, seminars, conferences and training sessions with school staff to increase knowledge of hardware, software, networking and telecommunications for successful implementation into the instructional process. 
• Provides technical assistance on troubleshooting hardware, software, networking, telecommunications and operational/process problems. 
• Coordinates the writing and completion of professional development and educational technology grants from the State Department of Education and other grant sources.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.
• Responsible for obtaining information and data and completion of federal forms relevant to the Universal Service Fund Grant. 
• Responsible for managing the implementation of administrative software and equipment. Provides technical guidance to administrative software records clerks at all schools and the board office. 
• Ensures system compliance of security protocols and state/federal legislation which can include CIPA and FERPA mandates.

Director of Technology Qualifications:

• Post Secondary Training in the Technology Field 
• Experience managing a team/department
• Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the development, installation and maintenance of information systems.
