The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating students with speech and language disorders within a school setting, collaborating with teachers and parents to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and provide therapy sessions focused on improving communication skills to support the student's academic progress; this includes conducting assessments, designing treatment plans, delivering therapy, and providing consultation to educators regarding students' communication needs. This position is subject to work multiple work sites and will report to the assigned school Principal. EDUCATION Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology preferred. CERTIFICATION/LICENSE Must have or be eligible to obtain a Georgia Teaching Certificate KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Excellent written and oral communication skills Excellent active listening and critical thinking skills Demonstrated ability to work well with students, staff, and parents in a professional manner Ability to make decisions or recommendations which usually affect students directly Knowledge of school safety & security procedures Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and applications relative to area or department Ability to be flexible and adapt as needed between in-person learning environments ESSENTIAL DUTIES Conducts speech-language screenings for students with suspected disabilities Analyzes and interprets information to make recommendations regarding speech-language services Plans and implements evidence-based interventions appropriate for individual students Collaborates/consults with classroom teachers in the management of speech-language services Provides consultative services to teachers, parents, administrators, and allied agencies in order to integrate speech language goals into the classroom, other educational programs, and the home environment Assures placement of students in the speech-language program and develops and implements speech-language goals/objectives on individualized education plans according to established due process procedures Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.
