Position: K-12 Math Specialist Location: Dooly County Board Office
Accountable to: Curriculum Director Classification: Exempt
Primary Function: Support, develop, and coach math teachers on content knowledge and skills to support the district’s vision, mission, and improvement goals.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
2. Master’s degree (or higher) in mathematics preferred.
Ability and Skills:
- Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks concurrently.
- Ability to support the district’s mathematics program.
- Ability to communicate in-depth knowledge of math literacy.
- Ability to communicate a deep understanding of GSE math standards.
- Ability to successfully work with colleagues.
- Ability to lead professional development.
- Ability to design effective lessons.
- Ability to model what good teaching looks like.
Major Responsibilities and Key Duties:
- Support, develop, and coach math teachers on content knowledge and skills to support the district’s vision, mission, and improvement goals.
- Design and deliver professional learning for the math program
- Provide professional learning by modeling and facilitating instruction
- Facilitate the evaluation of student work
- Demonstrate practical application of research-based, learner-centered instructional strategies
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of content knowledge
- Model effective mathematics instruction for teachers.
- Effectively analyze and use local school data to lead data talks
- Create learner-centered lessons using a variety of resources.
- Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned

Terms of Employment: Salary and work year are to be according to the current schedule of a 210-day calendar.
Evaluation: The performance of this job will be evaluated annually, according to the Board’s policy on the Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
