Goal

To provide a quality instructional program for students consistent with state and local rules, policies, and curriculum.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides instruction at an appropriate level.
  • Provides teacher-focused and student-focused content development.
  • Builds for transfer of learning through instruction.
  • Assesses and encourages student progress.
  • Responds to student performance.
  • Provides support for students.
  • Manages a positive learning environment for students.
  • Maximizes instructional time.
  • Maintains appropriate classroom behavior.
  • Maintains and cares for school property.
  • Follows professional practices consistent with school and system policies.
  • Complies with school, system, and state administrative regulations and Board policies.
  • Demonstrates professional practices in teaching.
  • Acts in a professional manner and assumes responsibility for the total school program, its safety, and good order.
  • Completes referrals for student evaluations timely and accurately.
  • Maintains accurate, up-to-date, timely, complete and correct records as required by law and district policies and procedures.
  • Follows Due Process requirements as stated in Federal laws, Georgia rules and local guidelines.
  • Monitors progress towards IEP goals on a regular basis.
  • Collaborates with related service providers.
  • Follows state and local assessment procedures.
  • Adheres to the Code of Ethics.
  • Maintains required confidentiality.
  • Adheres to all safety requirements.
  • Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance and the ability to adapt to an extended / flexible work schedule.
  • Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/ or credentials as may be required for this position.
  • Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner.
  • Participate in professional development/training classes and conferences designed to enhance knowledge and skills, as determined in by supervisor.
  • Review current development, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibility.
  • Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
  • Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies and administrative directives.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

EVALUATION

Performance will be evaluated by the principal or designee in accordance with the Georgia Teacher Evaluation Program.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common professional journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, staff members, regulatory agencies, or members of the community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribe style and format.  Ability to present information effectively to senior district management,  the Board of Education and public groups.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply moderately complex mathematical and statistical concepts such as percentages, averages, tendencies, trends and norms. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of and adherence to all district requirements, policies and procedures.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Qualification Required : The minimum credential is the appropriate educator certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission and meets the definition of a “highly qualified” teacher or other credential as authorized by the employer.
