Job Title: Physical Education Teacher
Reports to: Principal / Athletic Director

Position Overview:
The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for developing and delivering engaging and inclusive physical education programs for students in [Grade Level(s)]. The role includes fostering a positive environment that encourages physical activity, teamwork, healthy lifestyle choices, and personal fitness. The teacher will facilitate a variety of instructional activities, assess students' progress, and promote overall well-being through fitness and sports.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree - Preferred Certification in PE/Health
• Previous experience in teaching physical education or related fields preferred.
• Strong knowledge of physical fitness, sports, and health education principles.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to coach and mentor student-athletes in two specific sports.
• Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive sports culture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement age-appropriate physical education curriculum aligned with state standards.
• Teach a variety of physical activities including sports, fitness, and recreational games.
• Coach two sports, preparing student-athletes for practices, games, and tournaments.
• Promote physical fitness, health education, and wellness across the school community.
• Provide instruction in proper exercise techniques, safety rules, and the importance of physical activity.
• Create and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
• Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive attitudes through group activities and competitive sports.
• Assess and track student progress, providing feedback and individualized support when necessary.
• Adapt activities and lessons to accommodate students with diverse abilities and needs.
• Collaborate with other teachers, staff, and parents to support student health and wellness.
• Organize and participate in school-wide events, such as field days, sports tournaments, and fitness challenges.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and behavior.
• Stay current on trends and best practices in physical education and incorporate new ideas into lessons.
• Manage equipment, supplies, and facilities used for physical education classes.
• Promote and enforce safety guidelines to ensure the well-being of all students during physical activities.

Working Conditions:

• Classroom and gymnasium-based teaching with potential outdoor activities.
• Ability to stand, walk, and engage in physical activities for extended periods.
• Occasional lifting of sports equipment or setting up facilities for events.
• After-school hours required for coaching sports teams, including practices and games.
